“The baby is next endowed with an urge, or need, to face the outside world and to absorb it…. By absorbing what he finds about him, he forms his own personality.” – Dr MARIA MONTESSORI

Fine & Gross Motor Skills

Baby’s early years are crucial in building a strong, coordinated body, along with a sense of mobility and grace that lasts a lifetime. They learn movement through holding up their head, rolling over, sitting up straight, standing on their own two feet, exploring and climbing. To attain mastery, they need the liberty, space, and uninterrupted time to practise each step of the way. Hence, we firmly believe that babies should be unshackled and unrestrained, devoid of playpens, jumpers, walkers, and high chairs that impede their mobility and development, allowing them to be free.

“It is clear that the foundations of man are laid down during this period. When a baby is born, it is not a man that is born. Yet it is the origins of man.” – Dr MARIA MONTESSORI

Developing Confidence

Confidence is such an important trait to develop, and babies are making great strides towards it every day. With each new skill the little one learns, they are strengthening their sense of self-assurance, and that will stay with them for the rest of their life. Even at their young age, babies are already learning to imitate those around them, and taking small steps towards becoming more independent.

At Blooming Tulips Montessori, we are dedicated to helping your baby cultivate their sense of independence, while still feeling safe and loved. We support your little one as they learn to do things for themselves, helping them strike the perfect balance between exploration and comfort. One of the first ways your baby can practise self-care is through feeding themselves. That’s why we have a specially sized table and chairs for your baby, along with real dishes, and utensils that fit their size. We’re always there to help, but we know it’s crucial to let your little one develop their skills and confidence on their own. With our gentle guidance, your baby will be saying “all by myself” in no time!

Trust in Their Own Abilities and the World Around Them

Trusting oneself and the world around us is key to leading a life with inner peace and self-confidence. By following baby’s natural schedule, we foster this trust through encouraging a healthy relationship between eating, sleeping and toileting. We believe in observing your little one’s natural cycle of feeding, sleeping and biological functions. This ensures that they receive the necessary care on their terms and schedule. Through this approach, your baby gains a sense of security and trust in the world around them, which in turn benefits them both physically and emotionally. As your baby achieves milestones such as crawling towards their sleeping area, feeding themselves and signalling when their nappy is wet, they also gain trust in their own abilities. Because when we learn to trust ourselves, we can unlock our full potential and achieve anything we set our minds to. That is why at Blooming Tulips Montessori we give immense importance to give such foundation and mind set to our babies right from the beginning.

Fostering Language Development

We fully understand how crucial it is to foster your baby’s language development early on. Our goal is to provide your baby with rich spoken language and dynamic verbal interactions that will give their developing brain everything needed to master language. Our approach involves using vibrant and meaningful interactions that describe what your baby and other children are doing, while also allowing your baby to watch our mouths as we speak.

Furthermore, as your baby becomes more familiar with precise language, they begin to connect language, tone, and emotions. We expose your baby to an extensive vocabulary, by clearly identifying objects and actions, reading age-appropriate books, and singing songs that showcase the full range of speech and expression. These methods will equip your baby with the tools they need to thrive and communicate effectively, while also fostering a love for language and learning that will last a lifetime.

“When you speak to a baby, instead of looking at you, at your face, or anything attractive that you may be wearing, like a rose or brooch, he will look directly at your mouth. If little children are so thrilled to see a mouth moving, it is because they have already noticed this strange music that is the human voice.” – Dr Maria Montessori

Hand Development and Brain Development are Interlinked

Maria Montessori believed that the intelligence of a child could be traced back to their ability to use their hands! From reflexive movements in the early days, babies learn to intentionally grasp objects and transfer them from hand to hand. Through carefully curated environments, babies can learn to coordinate their hands, master the pincer grip and move on to more complex tasks. Once we provide your young ones with a bit of time and space, it is time to watch the magic unfold. We will witness your child’s intelligence bloom as they interact with intriguing objects and respond to activities finely tailored to their developmental stage.

The strength of even the smallest children is more than we imagine, but it must have a free play in order to reveal itself. Dr Maria Montessori
